mattress cleaning
« on: March 23, 2007, 05:17:20 pm »
Have been getting more calls of late to clean mattresses and did one today, but as yet have never been that successful in getting the stains out!

I never guarantee that they will , however that is mainly the reason people want them cleaned, in fact most of the ones i've done look slightly worse ::)

Does anyone do this with good results, or is it impossible to get the really bad stains out?

Did a mattress today, the lady had paid over £800 for it and I could tell she was a bit dissapointed at the results, but paid up anyhow, would liked to have done a better job, but to be honest it was in a right state :-[

Normally use prespray gold and extraction pro, using the t/m and internal jet hand tool.

Any feedback would be great.

cheers

I've cleaned a few mattresses even though i dont advertise the fact. Normally stains are bodily fluids (usually urine, sometimes blood). You know how difficult urine stains are to remove from carpets and a mattress is no different.

I've told customers stains are unlikely to remove but may reduce, however after cleaning and sanitising any odour should be gone.

Think people enquiring about mattress cleans have had an accident or someone sleeping in the bed has! Unless they're looking for specialised dust mite treatment.

Last mattress i had was after regular customers dog (aparently) had taken a wee on the bed. Cleaned using hwe and hand tool then treated with anti-bacterial spray after. Left them with air mover drying mattress and collected next day.

They were over the moon with results and mattress was dry to sleep on the same night. Urine stain didnt come out completely but smell was gone.

At the end of the day the mattress is covered by a sheet so stains aren't top of their priority list, odour is!!

Kind regards,
Jason.

is that 800 for the mattress or 800 for you doing the job ...? please tell me that is what she paid for it....!!!

I think that when it comes to  things like that you need to express how dirty a mattress can be , we sleep on them every night.

i have a great saying............................

You should always spend money on a good mattress,  and a good pair of shoes, because if your not in one your in the other .

Have you seen the Richard and Judy clip that is on here some where, about how much dirt comes out of your carpet . If only every customer could see that. we would be earning a fortune.

Would've of been nice to get £800 for the cleaning but even I'm not that greedy ;D

When i asked how long the stains had been there "only two years!" was the reply ::)

I spent more time trying to educate the lady than clean the mattress :(

I've used Hydromaster Knockout with success on mattress stains. Basically this is peroxide mixed with ammonia to speed up the oxidizing.

We have a solution called sleep safe, it is not a cleaner but contains a solution called steri x.Once applied it kills all known bacteria, bed bugs and mites and also helps people suffering from allergies. It also contains a flame proofing solution, water based and drys in no time, one application will normally keep the critters at bay for at least a month.Anyone interested.
