Up until now, in order to clean a Duo, I have been taking it apart and sitting with either a fork or a wire dog brush scraping out the hairs and cr*p that gets in the brushes.

Its a horrible job but has to be done.

Today I bought a 'coir' mat from Wilkinsons for £2.99 to see if running the duo over it would help get rid of some of the excess.

WOW!!!!!

It removed all of the rubbish from the brushes, so now all I have to do is take it apart and clean out the stuff from inside.
Has saved me about 30 minutes of nasty picking out so thought I would share it with you.

Many of you may already do this or something similar, but for those who don't, its worth £2.99 to see if it works for you.

This is one negative for these sort of machines. I soon learned not to clip it back on the tray cos it stops the brushes drying out and they end up stinking real bad.

There's no need to take it apart.

All you have to do is turn it over switch it on and hold a fork against the brushes.

I don't take it apart every day, once a week seems to be enough to keep it clean.  Used to use a fork, but takes ages compared to using the mat... literally a few second on the mat and it is clean for the next day.

I learned about the tray pretty quick too... I leave the tray off over night and only use it to take to and from the custy's house.

Leaving it to dry out and cleaning thoroughly once a week seems to keep them in tip top condition.

Just wanted to let anyone who might be wondering how to clean the duo quickly what I had found... I wish somone had passed on little tips when I first started... its these sorts of things that save loads of time.

If you leave it off the tray, resting on it's brushes you'll flatten them and they wont be as effective.

Tilt duo on its side, switch it on and hold a fine wire brush against the brushes as they rotate, or even better still, get a lad to do it for you.
