van transfer pump
« on: June 16, 2007, 08:38:59 am »
need a little bit of help please.

i am going to run a 2 trolleys from my van filling up from a 650 liter tank. i was thinking of getting a sub pump but will this not fall over when i am driving if the tank is empty? - i understand that as they were intended for static systems there are no fixings.

has anyone used one and if so do you fix them to the inside of the tank or should i get a normal pump which can be fixed outside the tank.

also, as it is just for filling up the trolleys can i run the pump from my 12v outlet in the van?

any help will be much appreciated

Just go for a 12v caravan sub pump. You could wire it into your car/van electrics or you could just have a external 12v battery and take your power from that?

I have a sub pump with wires and crocodile clips that has a piece of transfer hose attached to it.  If I want a fast fill for a trolley, I drop the pump into the tank, put the transfer hose into the trolley, and connect the crocodile clips to the leisure battery.  Only problem is that I broke it and need to re-connect some wires. I haven't got around to it because I've gradually adapted my business so that I don't need the trolley much these days.  If I use some water from the trolley now, I just top the trolley up when I next top up the van mount.
