need tips on windows above con roof
« on: June 07, 2007, 08:31:41 am »
Iv just cleaned a house with a big conservatory on a sloping patio and found it so tuff to do the windows above it,is there any easyway as iv go a 25ft carbon pole and fully extended i just got to the 3rd window.

my worry is i can not get much pressure on the glass and being new to wfp im not that confident on these ones.

How far is it safe to extend your pole as i like to pull each section out then go back 2inches,but can they be pulled all the way at that angle

any help

cheers joe

I realise that there is not always room to do so but sometimes I do these from a side angle.  I just try to make sure that I brush all over the glass (and frame if it's a first clean) and use plenty of water.  The pole I use is an Extender 18 footer.  Even though it's fibre glass, I find that it's light enough for such work if I have a smallish (10") brush on the end.  The pole tends to bend but that can be a help as it means the brush can be vertical on the glass instead of the risk of missing a corner.  Obviously working from the side isn't always possible due to garden boundaries etc.

A longer pole may help with these windows, but don't worry too much about how they come out.

Prior to you using a WFP pole, they wouldn't have been touched and no matter what you do to them, they'll be better than not being done at all.

Over time, they'll improve too; if the first cleans weren't that good.

Although often 'frowned upon' on this site, the five-section Unger alluminium pole would be ideal for this sort of job.  It's a tough pole, so you can bang it about on windows above a conservatory (including closing the windows) and you only have to use the sections (each about 6 foot) you need to reach the windows.

The best way to do those type of windows is with a very very light pole ie fishing pole,Joe the pole that i have that i showed you is the only pole for these jobs. With my pole i use 4 sections and because it`s so light i can stand in front of the conservatory and do these windows with  ease,i just adjust the brush so that it`s vertical on the end of the pole.

Joe,

I agree with this post mind; it's tough work with the Unger; but a 'Superlight' would make easy work of jobs like this.
