« on: May 14, 2007, 01:33:41 pm »
Hi, can anyone give me some advice on how much water is needed for a two man team using van mount WFP system. Also what van is best for a two man set up, and be able to work a full day.           THANKS

I have a 650L and that lasts 2 men about 6 hours.  I would say get as big a system as you can at least 650L and as big a van as you can say a transit style van.

but am goin to get a med height mwb van in august as i struggle to get all my gear in the tranny,i run 2 reels mounted in the van & a trolley system that is used occasionely,

My ideal size tank for 2 people doing a serious days work would be 850 litres, no more would be needed. Most days we only use 450 litres for 2 of us but on a couple of larger days we use 800 litres. I would have this custom built to suit the vehicle and mounting points. Also custom tanks have a lot better internal baffling which is essential in a tank of this size.

My ideal van for that tank would be the new Fiat Scudo/Peugeot Expert/Citroen Dispatch, this is available in a 1200kg payload version which would be enough for the above tank and 2 people and equipment. The advantage of these vans over a Tranny is that they have a much lower roof-line which is ideal for putting ladders on the top (yes most of us still carry ladders for access). They also start from about £9000 which I think is quite reasonable.

They've also got a door either side.

If you look at the vivaro and the traffic you`ll find that there no higher than most of the smaller vans.

Just bought a Trafic 2.9 & put 2 tanks in it. Kept the 400 litre I had in my previous van & installed a 650 as well.

In my opinion if you are replacing a van you need to over estimate your average requirements. We probably use on average 600 - 700 litres a day, but if we ever had to put in an extra long day possibly further afield then we would have no worries.

Sorry Alex, have to disagree with you on this one.

Hi Paul,

The Vivaro would be my second choice.  :)

But it is a bit wider and higher and as such would be a little more cumbersome. It is also more pricey.

Yup, over half again as much. :-\

Still, you get what you pay for.
Much much nicer inside, better looking and nicer to drive than the others. 8)

I suppose it depends if you feel you have to buy new. I paid £6000 + VAT for my 04 Trafic with 60,000 miles on the clock & so far it's been great.

Think you definitely need the 2.9 tonner though as this gives you a 1200 kg payload.
