factory carpet tiles advice please
« on: May 03, 2007, 10:43:55 pm »
hi all

i have a factory carpet clean that has carpet tiles very old and well soiled. i,am doing the job over 4 weekends as it has 5 floors and and very big floors.

any way i,am using crystal green powder / traffic clean / prochem multi pro and found that it is doing the job just not as good as i would like. it,s possible that that the carpets are that old they just may not come up any better. under desks is the worst part badly soiled having a bit of a fight on my hands to get it all out.

am i using the wrong chemicals can anyone advice on better powder or prespray.

what do u use   and what do you think is best powder or liquid

regards chris

If they are really bad then you may have wick back problems. This is when all the dirt hasn't been removed and wicks back up the fibres as they dry.
Best thing to do is to go over it with a rotary using absorbent pads. Or try bonnet cleaning only and see what the results are like.
Someone recently done half a pub with a top of the range truckmount and half with a heated bonnet system, he was somewhat taken aback when the bonneted side looked much better. Thats because he was only cleaning the pile, whereas the truckmounted side had wetted all the dirt sitting in the bottom of the pile but didn't remove all of it and it then migrated back into the face fibres. The truckmounted side would actually be cleaner with more dirt removed but didn't look cleaner.

hi john
thanks for the reply and advice.

i have used a rotary and also used a wand. do u think if i gave the traffic clean on a bit longer i would make change. the customer is happy with the results but i,am spending a lot more time and effort than i want to.

is there a better chemical that i should use.

If the tiles are bitumen backed and you are using a strong solvent pre spay then it could be the bitumen that is wicking up . Try something like Nemesis or an ms and that may help.

I would  LM clean with Tex/DF

or Charly pads with M-Power

Extract clean them and you might have a few more weekends tied up re-visiting due to wick back as already mentioned.
