I helped a mate on sunday, who has not been well to catch up on his work. I found out that he uses blitz on nearly EVERYTHING as a prespray, followed by rinsing with just plain water with his TM . I was shocked as i use mainly  woolsafe products. Upon asking him and mentioning the dangers of high ph, he said that in nearly 3 years of using blitz he has not had no problems, even on stainresist carpets and wool carpets.

I was wondering that this can't be good using such a high ph on carpets.
Dose anyone else clean this way?
I have always used a ph no higher then 11 on insdustrial carpets but always uused a acid rinse afterwards.
I was just puzzled that he has had no problems

You will not see the damage initially, but damage is being done, and the life of the carpet will suffer. Try and get your mate onto a woolsafe course it will change his perception on cleaning wool carpets and how quickly wool can suffer.

It’s funny you should bring this up, I tried to clean a very dirty pure off white wool rug this week with same product, wife came out and said it doesn’t look all that good had to agree,   let it dry and tried a free sample I got last year of Ultimate master (non woolsafe but safe for wool so it states on the packet) as a pre spray (dogs dangly bits this time round, got a pub to do tomorrow will see)

I think you may find continued cleaning with a high ph of the same carpet may cause damage but that will never happen! (Could be wrong)

The silence is golden.    Just as I thought no one willing to take up the Persil challenge,  so that lead me to believe, woolsafe is just a ploy?  Very sad and costly to cc members. Where are the defenders of the faith!  Come forth or forever hold you peace.

I believe it costs 10's of £1000's to get accreditation but how many products out there are woolsafe without displaying the logo? I once read that Derek Bolton used to use U/Master to prespray with.

Blitz is for blitzing very dirty carpets, if the carpet is so bad I would use it even on wool as it is a product for cleaning 'Blitzed' carpets so if it is hanging then use the product which is needed.

Got to agree with you both,especially after doing some of the wool carpets in the pubs the past few weeks,Blitz was the only answer to get the job done fast.
6 months time no doubt they will be a mess again

The Alltec product, was Woolsafe approved and listed, but the Saunders Bros felt and I agree wholeheartedly, that the £3K - £4K fee is a rip off.

I'm pretty sure what I've posted is accurate, but Steve or Robert might wish to clarify.

I think there is a big difference here in cleaning a trashed pub carpet as opposed to a residential customers nice well looked after wool carpet. A lot of pubs do not have their carpets cleaned as much as they need to due to insufficient funds or just not being aware of proper maintenance procedures. I have used Blitz to clean these carpets as I know another six or twelve months down the line they are going to be trashed again, like the picture Len posted. I had one such establishment that used to be trashed after one month.
I personally think on residential carpets it would be better to use a woolsafe product and I do not necessarily think it has to have the woolsafe logo, just that it is safe to use on wool. I think as long as you know the basics of how to clean it and what can happen to it if you use certain products then at least you can make an informed and professional decision and you do not have to be woolsafe approved to do it.

Would a one off blitz cause irrevocable damage domestics? Or is it a smoke screen, what are your first thoughts when a potential customer says I have used X  (endorsed by WS  )
