Big Brother is alive and well & living on Cleanitup!
« on: April 30, 2007, 05:43:04 pm »

Posted a query the other day. Checked it yesterday. 7 replies with some very useful suggestions. Been very busy today and forgot all about it. Then I remembered and decided to check it to see if anybody else had posted. Noticed number of replies is now 4. Slightly puzzled.

Opened it up and at leat 3 of yesterdays messages have "disappeared" but another "suggestion" was posted. And the topic was locked, presumably in case anybody says anything "offensive"

I have heard about things like this before but never had any personal experience.  So to Big Brother I would say

- Its my money and I will spend it where I want to
- I will not be led by the nose by anybody, no matter how well intentioned
- If somebody chooses to sponsor the forum, it does not give them the divine right to all the business
- Censorship is usually the sign of somebody with something to hide

Grow up!

Mick

It does if the sponsor owns the forum.

This is the most open forum of them all and the best, if you want a forum where you can only say and do one thing use the soultions forum.

Cheers

Hi

I agree with Neil.

I'm often surprised by what isn't deleted on here.

And nobody is forcing you to post.

If posts are being deleted then the forum is obviously not totally open.
I am led to understand that there is an open forum run by the truckmounters. I believe it is somewhat selective and hence because of the nature of it members doesn't need censorship. They can apparantly discuss all manufacturers products, equipment, methods without being unnecessarily controvertial or offensive

All forums have some deleted posts whether it be for the benefit of the owner/sponsor or offensive behaviour or (which can be true) software problems, you'll not get away from it.

Ah remember when Cleant@lk was just a little seed growing and we were all one big happy family..........Paul Elliott has something to answer for!

I did delete refrence to other Prochem supplier
If you want to find them ask Prochem

The only reason was Express sells Prochem  and in the past we stoped one of the most helpful suppliers I know from putting links to his website as he is a Prochem supplier.

If you had a market stall would you let me sell the same product as you on it

I do not think so.

I did it on my own initive out of respect for Mike Boxall and the valuable resource he has given us.

You are Free to talk about Prochem products Alltec ,Ashbys, Woodbridge Solutions  Extracta  One Step etc etc

But no links to other Forums or Prochem Suppliers

I am disapointed because I thought John B had crept back in when I saw refrence to Big brother .

Hi Ian
Last week there was a long thread on special offers from A and M (cleaning suppliers) this was not censored can I ask why?

I felt that the Prochem thread that Ian has referred to was quite offensive.

We had a poster who said something along the lines of: I sell prochem products, come and buy them off me.  This forum is not about blatant advertising and self promotion, it's about sharing knowledge and experiences. Yes, the site owner is a supplier, but Mike doesn't come on with a BUY, BUY, BUY message, just a discreet advert and the occasional promotion.  If someone posts that supplier XYZ is offering good service/deals, then to me, that is a different issue and is acceptable. Obviously, it usually is to Mike too.

So please, be respectful to the person who "put his money where his mouth is" and supplies us with the opportunity to communicate on a global scale and without charge!

Safe and happy cleaning :)

Nicely put Ken,
I can only echo your thoughts regarding this board unlike many boards out there today. Here on  Clean-it-up it is a true open forum for all to speak their minds and ask any question with out the fear of branded products being constantly advertised.
Full marks go to Mike Boxall for letting us all air our oppions on a wide range of products with out the fear of having posts deleted.
What I like most about this forum is the wide range of   knowledge  here ranging from guy’s starting with portable machines  asking simple question to the time served professionals like yourself Ken  who are prepared to take the time helping those in need.
Finally the banter without which life in this trade can become quite boring. ;D
