advertising in yellow pages
« on: April 05, 2007, 06:20:19 am »
Hi All

Looking to expand business & thinking of advertising in yellow pages.

What i want is feedback on value of work recieved. I previously used fed advert, which is only £130, but, am now thinking of something larger to promota business.

Currently have one out, previously ran in 3 books, return of work limited. But have returned all investment & made profit.

Thinking of doing brochure or flyer to put through business,s instead, but this is even more. £500 approx for 5000 leafletts, brochure will be even more.

Just missed out on a lot of work & have spaces to fill.

Yellow Pages works for me ! Yes I do get one off cleans but as we all know we charge extra for these and you can normally fit them in when you are in the area

The free line ads you can have in the Yellow Pages and Thompson Local are amazing - I get calls from them all the time...and they were FREE  ;D

My YP ad has more than paid for itself.
I have gained work worth around £800 - £900 per year from it.
Of course, the problem is that I have no idea if those customers would have rung me if I had a one line freebie.
The downside is that I have had a lot of enquiries from people who have impossible access situations (only way is through the house).  However, this may be a peculiarity of the area where I live as it is a town of sprawling housing estates built not long after WW2.  I go out of town for most of my work.
I get a lot of one off enquiries - usually end of tenancy cleans and I used to get far too many cold selling calls as well.  Registering with the TPS can cut a lot of this out though.

I pay less than that but I think it's for a three liner.
