Yep its that time again :
Started a few years ago with the blue trident poles that came with my omnitrolley,great poles but rather heavy.
Forked out £560 last year for a 36ft ergolite and after returning it for clamps replacing twice it finally snapped in half in normal use so wont be using one again.
Currently using Gardiners (green pole) 30ft.Again good pole but heavy.
I have been looking at the Facelift glass fibre as we only go up to about 30ft,do any of you guys and gals use one and if so opinions would be great.
We need a 30ft pole and an 18ft,we dont want the ones with the tubing outside the pole and we want them to be light.
More importantly we want the clamps to last more than a couple of months. :

Any recommendations guys.

i have the facelift carbon 44ft but demount it & use at 24/30ft 95% of the time. its a fantastic pole, light, rigid & just a dream to use, well worth the money, if you use one you'll soon see why. my work is Sooooooooooooo much quicker & easier since using this pole, would recommend one to everybody.

Thats because to acheive light weight most people reduce wall thickness,

and carbon has a higher shatter risk than say alloy

I have a facelift 44ft c/f and it is the dogs danglies...I love this pole..my prior pole was a g/f 22ft (very heavy in comparision)...I love my facelift pole....it makes this job   more comfortable ....If I had to buy one again...I would...great piece of kit..

Can't actually recommend this as such, but the only thing that really impressed me at the nec and felt like quality and worth the money was the tucker poles and brushes. They actually felt tough and expensive. The're my next purchase. The brushes felt brilliant, unlike anything else and the bronze pole look the biz.

how much did you pay for your pole, do you have to take it apart to use as a shorter pole....not sure what you mean by "demount it" or is it telescopic, we have used a couple of the green ones and have found that the clamps wear out very quicklly

mine cost about 900 quid five months ago but i think gardiners do them cheaper (got mine direct from facelift), to be honest its worth every single penny. i,ve had absolutley no trouble with any aspect of the pole in this time either & it gets some good hard use.
as for the de-mounting bit-...... yes, i take the pole apart, easy, you just release the clamp at the desired length & pull the sections off. you see i use it at its full 44ft length once a month for a big hotel, then take a couple of sections off to use at 30ft a couple of times a month then for 95% of the time i use it at 24ft (4xsections). its great this way, as you can immagine its a 44ft pole with the ability to be used at any length but without the weight & bulk of the rest of the sections & also the benefit of still being telescopic & not modular (fishing pole). so i carry it around with me all the time at 24ft (4 x sections) then just add the rest when needed.
also, even with the four sections all retracted its so light you can do around 90% of downstairs windows too (even with the pole at 90 degrees)
as an indication of the pole's weight, at 24ft you could use it all day one handed!!!!

just to add to that, when all the sections are together (44ft mode) the thickest (base) section i can wrap my thumb & finger around & touch them easily & i have small hands.
at 24ft the base section is not much thicker than a broom handle, so if you're used to using a thick, fat, heavy, mega-flexible fibre glass pole then you'll be totaly blown away & that i guarantee!!!!

Can you get pole bottom protectors to fit all sections then? as that was my concern when i looked at them at the NEC. Also it is only the bottom section that is insulated with a layer of g/f and is textured for grip. I thought it felt like a fantastic pole but the price for an occasional job seemed hard to justify. But if i can alter the pole easily for other application lengths the i trhink that will be my purchase.
I also liked the exel poles on display. Anyone have experience of these poles?

yes you can get the base section protectors for any section & i also purchased a glass fibre base section for use at 24ft (the fourth section) as i use it at this length 95% of the time. ( when i say that i mean 24ft & lower as there is no need to demount any less than this as the pole is so light with only four sections added ). if i use it at say 30ft, then i have no glass fibre base section so i just use common sense.
also if any section wears or breaks, you can just buy a new section & replace it so you should never have to buy a whole new pole.

if you have the money & realy want to then you can add a glass fibre base section to any length of the pole, although i think this would be over-kill & make it rather more expensive.

I have read many good reports on here regarding the facelift pole and was impressed with what i saw at NEC but i was also impressed with the excel poles from finland.
