Macmillan Cancer Support
« on: February 27, 2010, 12:02:44 pm »
On the 14th of January 2010 my mother sadly died she had cancer and the support we received from the various services was second to none so i would like to offer something in return so i have entered the Edinburgh Marathon on 23rd of May i am doing it in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support so if you good people could help by sponsoring me it would go a long way towards the minimum target of £750 i would actually like to raise double this so any donations will be gratefully received

Remember you can claim charity donations against tax so dont be shy and also dont forget to check the Gift Aid box as then the charity can claim 25% from the tax man
Many thanks in advance
Dean

Good for you Dean. I am sorry for your loss, its hard isnt it. Really feel for you. It was the second anniversary of my Mothers death yesterday, she died very very suddenly and it just came entirely out of the blue, one week we were having lunch with her, that she had cooked the following week she'd been dead 2 days. This was a cancer death too like your Mums.

I am planning on a sponsored cycle ride round Tanzania next year and would love to donate to Macmillan. They are a wonderful organisation and help to carry the burden when times are tough as well as putting a smiling face on everything when it is all so dark.

I will sponsor you, well done mate, I feel for you.

Sorry for all you will feel.

Its hard to explain just how good these nurses and their support system is. Unless you've been in that situation yourself you can't really fathom how much it means. My mother in law passed away from cancer just last Saturday & we're doing some fund-raising for the local cancer hospice at the moment as we simply couldn't have gotten through it without their help.
All the best with your marathon Dean.
