Magic, dont no of anybody who,s been on this scheme but if it helps you to gain more knowledge and experience its got to be a good thing.

I went on it in December '05.
It was worth doing though I would have preferred more practical work in real life situations.  In fairness to them, such a thing would be hard to set up.  There was a lot of theory too and some H & S was touched on.  My summary would be that it was worth doing but don't expect too much of a one day course.  Like being at school, most of the learning happens after you leave with bits of the school experience to look back on as a reference point.  If you walk away with some practical info, have learned to work a bit more safely, and 7nderstand a bit more about the theory of pure water, then the course has done its job.
I feel that it is helpful (though not essential) to have used WFP for a little while before going on this course.

shiner did they try selling you anything on the course i have not been on one but would be gutted if it ended just as a sales pitch which is something ionics seem to do a lot of

Wake up and smell the roses ppl.  ::)

Using WFP aint rocket science at all. Scrub.. rinse..scrub..rinse and make sure the frames are waterproof. The course is probably the best sales tool Ionic's use. I should know. I went on one and ended up buying an Ionics system.  ;D

I went on one last year, the theory was very good but a bit disappointed on the pratical side. Would have like to see more hands on training with all tools with WFP like using the Viking brush.

Overall I was happy with it and would recommend going on one.

They didn't try any direct sales pitch or anything like that.
However, there was a certain amount of discussion about the best way to do things and the type of tools/systems to do them with - which of course just happened to be the type of tools/systems that Ionics sell.  So it was more subliminal than "in your face".  I'm not sure that everyone would agree but (IMO) it was within the limits of acceptability but did nudge the boundaries at times.  Having said that, there was plenty there for someone who had no interest in Ionics equipment (again IMO).
This is purely personal opinion of course.

As far as the practical side of the actual cleaning goes, everything I learnt at BWCA I learnt here and by going out with window cleaners for a day.  In fact, I learnt more by going out there than from the course.  One glaring omission from the course was how to deal with vents just above the frames.  However, as I said before, it needs to be borne in mind that this is only a one day course.
Also, the course fee is a tax deductible item so won't cost you the full amount in the longer term.
I had already bought a system elsewhere and started using it a few weeks beforehand.  I wasn't aware of any link between Ionics and BWCA at the time of booking the course.

Magic, Where are you based? As one of the lads off here may take you out for a days experience.

I think everything you need to know and learn about wfp and being able to go out with other window cleaners is right here on this forum better than any one day course.  Ofcourse the choice is yours but i suppose you get a certificate at the end of the BWCA course, wfp may not be rocket science but without the help of this forum i wouldnt have had a clue i learn something new from here every week

best of luck whatever you decide :)

Attended the course a couple of weeks ago. Frazier(SP?) the tutor is a nice guy but felt there was too much 'padding' the course out i.e 'the history of window cleaning'. What's that all about!!
I would have preferred a much more practical, hands on approach.
I came away more confused than when i arrived.
But then again , i am easily confused.....now, what was i saying...!!
