You could have added -

I even came back to check on the windows two hours later and they were perfect - and you still didn't answer the door! You obviously wanted me to do a one off clean but weren't prepared to say!! You are morally bankrupt!!!

I challenge your husband to a duel at dawn tomorrow!!!! He may choose weapons from a choice of waterfed poles, short lengths of half inch hose with schraeder connectors or A frame ladders!!!!!

Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining!!!!!!

Yours courteously,

Charmshine!!!!!!!  ;D

!!!!!!!!
It's a game of three halves!

I am very sympathetic to the fact that you were obviously upset by all this and I would be the same. But don't let it get to you. Weirdos and nutcases come in all shapes and sizes. They probably get off on this sort of stuff.

Twenty odd years ago I worked in a factory with a bloke called Roy who was a serial complainer. And he was mega proud of it. He would talk for hours with obvious delight about all the run ins he had had with shops garages and all sorts of trades people.

Every holiday he went on resulted in months of letters and claims for compensation for something or other. He always had something wrong with his room and had to me moved to another, then he found fault with the new one etc etc.

But the point I am making is this, the problem was in his head not with the goods and services he was receiving.
It taught me a lot about these people. You are never going to win so don't try. Just say fine and walk away, then make a concious effort to forget all about it.

I still seeth over things that happened years ago but I am stupid to let it get to me like that. Its a lucky person who can walk away.

Good letter, and a good specimen letter to use if you ever have something similar. However I would have thought it only worth the effort if you can actually get the customer back. It's not an argument you can win, and I believe you are smart enough not to worry about having the last word on a subject.

Personaly I would see it through to end, phone up, preferably talking to the bloke, say this is the window cleaner, I sent you a letter and don't want to fall out with you but I did what I thought was a very diligent job, and I would very much like to get to the bottom of what the problem was.

In some instances people do dump on the window cleaner, maybe the same sort of people who are rude and demanding of waiters and waitresses and then leave miniscule tips. Sometimes you just have to take it.
