Best Di Vessel and Resin
« on: February 18, 2007, 06:35:21 pm »
I'm just wondering if there is an ideal size vessel to own, I remember speaking to Tucker last year and they said that a taller vessel was better can't remember for what reason though. Is bigger better, or does it just cost more but lasts longer? Likewise, is there one resin better than others?

If you have any advice would be appreciated, along with any links to any online stores.

Many thanks

Simon

PS. While I'm on the subject, how high will you allow your tds to go up, before changing? Is there a recommended amount?

dowex resin i find the best (lasts longer for me). i use 2x 11Ltr DI vessels in sequence, this way you get far better resin economy (especially when you give the vessels a realy good shake when TDS starts to rise). ;) ;)

i ve stocked many different over the years and i can t honestly rate one other the other they are produced by large chemical companies and there is a standard the resin to look for is virgin

as to vessels and to size when using r/o it doesnt seem to make a great difference the larger the vessel the longer between changes

i all ways run out of the DI at 000

running two in line can save on the time between changes

macmac, why do you get better economy? How does that make any difference?

running 2 vessels in line allows you to use the first until the resin is completely knackered, you then fill iit with fresh resin and then run it as the 2nd vessel.  In essence what this means is that every grain of resin gets used until it is done.  If you have one vessel and change it when you resin starts to rise you don't get the full use out of it - for example, water from ro is 10ppm, after 1st vessel it reads 2ppm, vessel 1 has removed 8ppm meaning vessel 2 only needs to remove 2ppm.
