hello folks
in one post on this forum the guy says that the Host Dry Extraction Carpet Cleaning System is the dogs plums, and better than a hwe because it takes no drying time and there is no risk of carpet shrinkage.
does anyone know about this machine? i am guessing its not as good as an tm or good portable but  could someone please put my mind at rest as i have my heart set on a prowler.

hi Jon,
          I,ve only heard good things about it, I use t/m's myself also have portables and an envirodry, did a job yesterday in a filthy nightclub( mainly blacktop in most areas) it took all day using 2 T/M's, If we were using portables we'd still be there now! and if using dry cleaning we'd still be there next month!

You will here all sorts of conflicting idea's on this site. If you are looking to start up as a carpet cleaner then the most versatile piece of equipment to use would be hot water extraction. This will enable you to clean the majority of carpets and upholstery that you will come across in your working environment. Including all the awkward things like stairs, greasy & highly soiled carpets, rugs etc. Although a lot of the low moisture systems available are excellent at removing deep seated soiling, some have limitations, ie flotex, stairs, upholstery. From what I here the prowler is a great machine and will give you truckmount power and portability, so is a good base to work from. As you progress you may want to add a low moisture system to your arsenal for commercial contracts etc. It is better to have a variety of cleaning equipment to use in different situations if you can afford it.

I have always believed that the Dry System, using mechanical-powered brushes and sponge-particles, is at best a carpet maintenance method that cannot reach the depths of the carpet or release heavy stains.  Hence HWE is always more powerful, but at the same time can lead to shrinkage and, occasionally, unacceptable drying times.  However skill, commitment and training can overcome these drawbacks, making HWE a good, reliable and (in particular) thorough cleaning method.

Jon, that job we did on Wednesday well put it this way if we had been using Host we would still be there. It was very bad though.

I've used both hwe and dry systems and would only recomend the use of the type of machine you describe, for agitation, in conjunction with a HWE machine.

Bonnet mopping, in the hands of a skilled operator, the correct type of bonnet and chemicals can achieve spectacular results..............but the most versatile has to be HWE and if I were 30 years younger and starting out the Prowler would probably be my first choice.
