Who cleans rugs by submersing them? And how - in a bath?

You really need a dedicated room for doing this. Its not the washing its the drying. You need a room where you can flush them clean with a hosepipe then hoist them up onto drying poles. Dehumidifiers and air movement are required for rapid drying.
Prolonged drying is what can cause you problems.
