Anyone use Mytee & Water Tank?
« on: December 29, 2006, 03:07:08 pm »
Just trying to organise the setup and was wondering if anyone uses this system. I have ordered a 250ltr water tank and my main concern is actually getting the water from the tank to the autofill of the machine. Because the entry of the autofill is quite high, gravity wont obviously do it, so has anyone setup a pump for this and if so what type and what voltage etc - 12v or 240v etc.

Also would anyone recommend an extra heat exchanger? Although the Mytee has 2, when I tested it it was with about a quarter of a tank with freezing cold water, and the water did come out steaming after about 3 mins or so from running the pump (not actually releasing any water) and both heat exchangers on. But with full tanks....I'm not so sure?

Any help would be appreciated.

I know a couple of you were interested in what I thought of the machine etc and although Ive only used it once at home, it wasnt a real test (I only got it on the 21st - the day before the XMAS shutdown!). But I do think its very good. Once we get going in the new year I'll let you know.

The only beef I have is with the Wonderwand (I know, nothing to do with the Mytee). It weighs an absolute ton! I also didnt find it rolling that easy, and the carpet seemed wetter than the traditional wand. I dont think I was doing anything much wrong but maybe I need to adjust the pressure. I did at one point do it to 450psi, so perhaps 200 would be more appropriate....or just go quicker!

Dont suppose you managed to take any photos at all did yer?

sorry kev  forgot allabout it,  all u need is a 12volt 100psi pump from cleantech  about 80 pounds i think,  also u dont wanna let the water boil in the tank (as i persume u had flow control open sending back into tank )  as its to hot for pump and will knacker it, u really need to fill up 250 ltr tank from home with hot water , none of these heaters are good enough to giv u really hot water from cold not even the ninja

just thinking about another couple pionts on u post kev,  it would take at least 45 mins to heatup to max the water in u machine if its stone cold,  the steam u saw was just the heater putting hot water back into the tank, it didnt mean the quarter tank was any were near that hot, it would take these heaters 3-4 mins just to heat to max whats in the heater about pint of water

Cheers for the post Gary.

When I used it, I basically filled the Mytee tank with about a quarter tank of cold water. Then I ran the pump and the 2 heat exchangers for a few minutes (no vac) while I twiddled me thumbs (I wasnt running any solution back into the tank, I just let the pump rumble away). Then I released the wand valve and after a few secs got steaming water all over me carpet!. So I then cleaned an area all ok. So it def worked.

With the pump, do you have to switch it on manually evertime or does it come on automatically when the demand needs it? I havent got the actual tank yet but I presume normal water hose connections suffice, or will other tubing etc need to be fitted?

Cheers

yes it will come out hot at the wand but only for about 60 sec then it would go luke warm     thats y u need very hot water in your holding tank ,  the 12vlt pumps are supply and demand so it will auto keep filling the machine tank as u use the water, u only need bit gfarden hose and few garden conneters to set it up  about 5 mins

Oh I see. I will do another test I think then to see how long it lasts before it goes from hot to warm/cold. I was just trying to not have to fill up in the morning as it seems a pain in the arriss!

With your pump Gary, do you turn on the van engine to keep the battery ok? or is it not enough to knacker it out as it is in bursts - and therefore ok? Also do you have a tank jacket to keep it warm?

Cheers

Very interested to see what you have mentioned about your wonder wand, as I also took delivery of my mytee on 21st Dec and upgraded the wand, and have used it on a few jobs already.  However, I also noticed that the carpet seems to be wetter than a conventional wand, I wonder if it has anything to do with the roller, I am going to take mine off, and see if this helps.

If any of your guys using the WW have any tips on use, I for one would appreciate your input.

With regards to the heat exchangers, the machine is far to new to comment at the moment, I will have to run a few tests over the next couple of weeks.

Regards
Paul

Thanks again Gary, I think I'm all sorted now!

I do hope there isnt a problem with the wands, I will be most annoyed. The whole point of me buying one was to improve my drying times and not wet any backings!! I think the only way I'm going to know is to do a test on an offcut - half & half. Test as follows:

1. Level of surface wetness
2. Level of backing wetness (if any)
3. Drying time

I will do this over the next couple of days and let anyone who's interested know the results.
