Does any one have the ashbys auto fill system if so how does it work and is it permanently fixed ?

I have and it is permanently fixed. Fairly simple setup. Inside the fill tank is float assembly fixed to a hose attachment which sticks out to the rear.
Attach a hose with the correct attachment and other end to a water supply and your set. Float assembly obviously stops tank overfilling.

Yup, for all the good I do say about Ashby's, the autofill is mahusivley overpriced - £55+fitting+vat.
I don't think they're quite 'a fiver' but they're definately under £15 for exactly the same piece of equipment.

Are the auto fills a ballcock system like in toilets?
If so I have fitted one in a water tank for no more than a tenner with fittings to connect to garden hose.

no they not as good as balcock one lol  tiny little things with a little blue float  that slowly shuts the water off when its getting full , i hav seen the eact same ones in bnq for well under a tenner, its one hole needs drilling in machine  recon u can fit one in 5 mins     just ad look at price its 59 pounds plus vat

What about chemical dosing, does it have one of those or is it just filling the machine with plain tap water?

I have just bought a ballcock valve to fit to my machine. The only thing that bothers me is once the machine fills and the valve operates it will leave a pressurized hose running through custies house.  The tap fittings are not so great and under pressure you could squirt a bit of water around.

The only thing I can think of is to put a 3 way joiner in the filler hose either at the machine end or at the sink/bath. With a valve that will only open once it sees a little pressure. Then allow it to either drain in the sink or outside in the garden.

Your hose should be fine under pressure.
I have two tanks in my garage which when balcock shuts them off they have the full pressure and can be left on for days.
Just make sure you use good quality hoses and conections.

I would think that a simple T in the feed to the pump so the pump draws from two sources and not one would do it. Adjustabe restriction in the section going to the chemical would allow you to get the % in the right ball court. I think you would have to get a little scientific to set it up.

hi with ashbys small pumps they work ok but with the bigger pumps they are always drawing water so it would cont put chem in the tank, u hav to hav it after the pump ie the sol line, or u could hav before the auto fill if like me u use a sep tank and 12 volt pump, i tryed lots diffrent ones and had trouble every time so i gav up,

Good point, not something I would want anyhow. It would mean a seperate operation to rinse the carpet, So I can't really see where there is a time saving. Unless you leave carpet full of detergent, which is something I wouldn't do.
