agitation device
« on: December 23, 2006, 06:02:29 pm »
Hi Guys,
i have been looking at purchasing something similar to the minitex to use for agitating on stairs and upholstery. I have heard the prices for these mintex are herendos so was looking at a something like a fancy car polisher instead. Was just wondering if anyone else uses a similar device if so with what attachment ie lambs wool or other, i have also noticed that with alot of these polishers they seem to be alot higher rpm then the minitex spec even the ones with variable speed settings so any suggestions? - apart from use a brush to aggitate you lazy sod  :)

bosch do a  'fancy car polisher' with highly adjustable speed. I had one years ago when I was valeting, I think they`re about 200 quid. Quite light and agile aswell

Ive often thought about one of those electric sanders you would buy in b+q etc.  Would there be anyway you could replace the round sandpaper with a bonnet mop cut to size?
As long as the rpm allows would this not be an option?

I'm sure our local surplus store sells a mains powered car polishing tool for about twelve quid. I wonder if the pads could be adapted to fit?

How about Argos item: 7505797 ?

How difficult would it be to fabricate some sort of adapter?

I may be writing out of ignorance here but....surely the minitex is designed for cleaning soft furnishings whilst others mentioned on this thread are for other purposes... valeting was mentioned also a grinder

My aged brain can't get its head around possible Health and Safety implications of using such a device with moisture when it may not be designed to do so.

Texatherm sell the Minitex to clean both upholstery and stairs......To me, it's just adding a time consuming task, which is, in most cases unnecessary.

I have an old Holloway, which is similar to the M/T but has two grades of brushes and a supply to the brush which I used for dry foam cleaning a few years ago.

Excellent little machine, but fairly heavy.

I understand trying to keep down costs but, the Minitex is a Little over £300 inc Vat, with free delivery and five free pads, as derek says its designed for the purposes in mind so you have a little peace of mind and also someone to goto should it cause a problem.  I understand that £300 isnt chicken feed but if you look at it from a different angle, Clean 3 suites at £100 each and its paid for then you will speed up every suite clean you do after that not to mention improved results which in turn will generate priceless word of mouth work.  We currently agitate with hand mits so i reckon a devise like this should shave a good half hour of our suite cleaning time.
