Crminal Record Checks
« on: November 30, 2006, 04:00:37 pm »
All
I have just had an incident where a purse has gone missing at one of my sites (keyholder). The police have been contacted and have asked me what our vetting procedures are. I informed them that we do the normal reference checks but thats it. Do any of you do any more than this?

Regards
Tim

i think if you go to your local police station they will give you a form for a police check. this is /was £10 and it goes to scotland yard and takes 4 weeksish.
if this person is guilty CHOP HIS HAND OFF >:(
hope this helps,john.

that is complectly different from the CRB check, for example in order to work close to children or OAP's  you would need a full CRB check as the 1 from the police would not be accepted.

Re the police station check. This has to be done by the cleaner they wont take applications from third parties. So the cleaner has to supply thier own check to you.
Everyone seems normal untill you get to know them!

Do you find that this reduces your P&L insurance significantly?

Hi i would like someone to tell me how i can get a full check done on myself so that i can present this to future clients.
I had one done on myself when i worked formerly at a doctors sergery, but don't have it in my possesion.
Would be grateful to be pointed in the right direction.

Hi Lisa,

You could try looking on your local council website.

I was CRB checked 4 times in 2 years when I first moved up here as I used to work as a teaching asstistant but I was only voluntary so to raise some money I used to work as a dinner lady and although I had already been CRB checked to work in the class I had to be CRB checked again even though it was the same school because it was 7mths old, then about 9mths later I was an exam envigilator at the local secondary school and they CRB checked me too.

So although getting CRB checked yourself seems like a good idea from my experience if your CRB is over 6mths old it won't mean much.

I wouldnt mind but im probably one of the most honest people you'll ever meet lol.

www.crb.gov.uk

Hi Lisa,
This is from the website above

The current legislation does not allow the self-employed or individuals to apply for a CRB check on themselves. In addition, parents who employ a nanny/au pair/babysitter directly cannot apply for a CRB check; however, if an agency supplies the nanny/au pair/babysitter, the agency is entitled to carry out a CRB check.
