weather forecasters - waste of time !!!
« on: November 26, 2006, 10:59:12 am »
The weathermen ( and women) drive me mad. BBC weather , teletext and the Met Office all have different opinions on what the weather will do every day. one will say dry, one wet, one sunny... Sort it out boys and girls !!

Does anyone know of a different website which has ACCURATE daily forecasts ?

There, I'm glad I got that off my chest!!

none are accurate. but some get close. try metcheck, not bad most times. Just plan your work as normal though, cos you can't second guess nature! Would earn a fortune if we could tell the weather accuratley ;)

I've been in this game an awful long time and I never bother with weather forecasts - if I did I think I'd have gone bankrupt many years ago :D

You're right about them not agreeing, and if my customers get into a conversation about "they said it was going to be...." I always say: "I watch all the weather forecasts, then I pick out the best one and go with that!!" ;D

Cheers,

Ian

I thought all these forecasters got their data from the Met Office so in theory they should all be reading off the same sheet....but how often they get it badly wrong.

As an example this morning at 9am the BBC Site said a nice sunny day....outside it was thunder, lightning, hail and monsoon rain.

I've sort of given up making appointments recently...just get up, see what the weather's looking like and if it looks as though it's gonna be dry bung ladders over shoulders and see who's at home. Involves a fair bit of walking but seems to work.

There are a few different companies in various countries who sell the met info and then other companies interprit the information. And then get it wrong.

Forget the forecasters, if it rains it rains, you still get a gas bill mate!. If you feel comfortable in the conditions just go and do it.our job is to remove the dirt that has built up since we last cleaned and that is what we do, rain or shine!

i find this site probably the best on the web.

wwwa.accuweather.com

it gives you hourly forcasts and ive found it pretty much spot on 90% of the time.

plus you can add an extention into your web browser if you use firefox and it gives you the next five days weather along the bottom and any changes literally every 10 mins when your surfing the web or say... posting on clean it up!

I only live 16 miles from the met office new weather forecasting location and they still can't get the local weather forecast right so you lot don't stand a chance!
Losing a customer is like waiting for the next bus, another one will come along shortly!

Watch out Tornedo Alert

,Britain is on tornado alert after weather experts issued a warning.

The Tornado and Storm Research Organisation (Torro) forecasts isolated severe thunderstorms or weak tornadoes during the next few days.

The warning, published on Torro's website, applies to parts of south-west England, east Wales, South Wales and much of southern, central and eastern England.

"The highest tornado risk would appear to be along and close to the south coast,'' it said.

More than 20 properties have already been affected by what is believed to have been a tornado in west Wales.

"The highest tornado risk would appear to be along and close to the south coast"
- Torro websiteEmergency services were called to Bow Street in Aberystwyth after damage was caused by high winds.

A spokesman for Dyfed Powys Police said: "It was apparent that what is believed to be a tornado had struck parts of the village. Commercial and residential premises, vehicles and caravans were damaged.''

No one was thought to have been injured.

Rachel Vince, forecaster at the MeteoGroup UK, said: "We have had reports of a tornado near Portsmouth on Saturday. The main concern is general wind and heavy rain through the next 24 to 48 hours.''

Just GET UP and see.

It's not raining yet.................so get on!!!

Iff it's too wet to work

Then keep an eye on the weather................the minute it's fit.........get out!!

Iff it persists it down while your out........then sit in the van till it stops or it's set in for the day

Weather forcasts ARE so missleading..........................Just GO FOR IT!!!
