Who's system is it, Toff?  Did you buy a "kit of parts" or are you putting it all together from parts bought from various suppliers?

The description is a bit vague, you mention a "brass fitting on the end of the pole" - what sort of pole is this?  Photos would be a great help :)

Cheers,

Ian

Hi Ian
its a trailer system from ionics the fitting go'es on the end of  the hose from the trailer and the brass fitting from the waterfed pole fits into it,  i think its the water cut of fitting it looks like a brass copy of the plastic hose connecters which clip apart but i can't see how it fits. i will try and get a photo, many thanks,

Still not sure what you mean, but if it's the two halves of the connector between the hose from the trailer and the end of the hose from the pole, they should just push together.  The bit with the "bearings" inside it tell me it's a standard bayonet fitting. Push together to connect, pull back the brass sleeve to disconnect.  If they don't, then you've got two different types of fitting and they won't join.

Cheers,

Ian

Toff:

I got the photo OK :)

Still not sure, the plastic bit just looks like a dust excluder.  Is that the whole of the fitting, or just one half?  I guess you'll have to get back to Ionics as I've never seen one like this.

Repeating what I said before: the fitting will be in two halves, one on the hose from the trailer, one on the hose from the pole.  How you fit each half on its relevant hose I can't tell from the photo.

Cheers
