Personal accident insurance - who should I use ??
« on: November 26, 2006, 12:42:30 pm »
I pay my personal accident insurance monthly, but was wondering is there a company that loads of you use, that maybe specialise in window cleaning. I'm traditional using ladders but do not go higher than first floor, EVER!!

Combined insurance of America, they will pay out from day 1, not make you wait 30 days like most insurance companies.
Use the wand of power !!

Hi

I used to use Combined Ins of America but be careful.I slipped on a flat roof and damaged muscles in my shoulder,so put in my claim.Doctor told me to have 4 weeks off.Had to wait until my sicknote ran out before i got a penny, and when i did they only paid me half of what i was entitled to cos they said those muscles were weakened due to a crash i'd been in a few years earlier.I used to pay £36p/m accident and £36p/m sickness cover but i put the money aside now and every 10 months have a fortnight off with the dollar.

wayne was there a reason given for the wait until your note ran out, as paul seems to be saying payments start right away. also if you dont mind me asking what did the £72 p/m you were paying entitle you to in the way of payments from them...just interested in what kind of money per week/month they would pay for that monthly payment

there are more windows than window cleaners so lets help each other

Hi

They told me if i was going to be long term sick then i could have interim payments but cos it was short term then i would have to wait. They'll tell you that you will get a certain amount for the injury/accident and something in the region of £150 p/w whilst youre off work but as is the case with most insurance companies they try to get out of payment with the small print.

Mine is with Royal and Sun Allliance, via Allied.  Premium £157.50/yr.  Death benefit £20,000,  weekly benefit £175 with a deferment of 14 days and a benefit period of 52 weeks.

No accident/sickness insurance is going to give you a living wage while you're off sick, unless you pay an absolute fortune in premiums, but this had got to be one of the better ones.

Cheers,

Ian
