The Sun is cruel....
« on: November 23, 2006, 01:01:25 pm »

Just got after from doing a 5 bed house. All the windows are Georgian roughly 6"X5". Lady wants it done both sides of glass.

Start at 8am and by 10ish am ready to go indoors....there are seriously a lot of windows!

A clear blue sky outside and the Sun is now just above tree height. What has taken me 2 hours of graft, where I'm convinced I got all the corners and missed nowt, looks as though I've simply gone over the glass with a damp rag and I'm now on the verge of tears!

However I plod on and tackle the inside and by the time I've finished it's midday and the Sun is overhead and not shining directly onto the windows and as if by magic they look great.

I asked the lady after I'd pocketed a few £20s (really misquoted this job!) when I should come back and she said "I'll give you a call". My arm is aching like hell and I really hope she doesn't.

I love the Sun when I'm on hols and weekends but it really made a mockery of my best efforts today.

No, you should get your terms and conditions straight before you take on any job.  I wouldn't have any of this, 'I'll give you a call business'.

Hi Tosh, just got in from a cushy number and feel much more chipper!

Normally I'm fairly relaxed about the cleaning cycle. 95% of my customers want bi-monthly(ish) and there's the odd few who want quarterly and a very few who want monthly. My attitude is that it's their windows and they are entitled to have them cleaned as little or often as they wish, but I always stress to the quarterly merchants that if it goes longer then it's different money and they accept this.

Truth be known I find whether they're cleaned every 2 months or 3 it's much the same work.....although I'd never admit it outside this forum!
