Do you charge more for the 1st Clean?

Just wondering, I personally do not, I charge per window and compare the final quote to how long it would take me,  no matter how dirty they are. and that price will stay the same no matter what. I actually really like doing dirty windows, peoples eyes fall out of their head sometimes when they see the difference, like today, the lady didn't stop smiley and thanking me and offering me coffee 

New house today took me 1:25, and I quoted £30, can only get better, but price will stay the same. Guess I'm dead on with the quotes there. Was a dirty house and even had to do a lot of pole work

It does depend how dirty they are.
If they're really grotty a pound or two.

If they're not too bad and I know I'm going to get a good account out of it, then there's no need to ask for more.

If it takes a bit longer it's worth it.

I charge the same for 1st cleans regardless of condition.  I figure that if you charge the same, the 2nd and 3rd cleans etc will be a doddle and your hourly rate goes up as they will not take so long to do.

It depends.  I usually charge 50% more or thereabouts for first cleans.  This is one of the drawbacks with WFP.  The customer gets their moneys worth though because I do go around the job twice.  The first time is a really thorough frame scrub plus glass.  The second pass is just a quick brush and thorough rinse.  It probably takes me more than 50% longer to do a first clean.  If I really want a job a lot and it looks like charging higher on a first clean may stop me getting it AND if I genuinely feel that they want regular work, I may charge standard rate or just a little more.  Like most, I have been caught out occasionally when a "regular" job becomes a one off but that is fairly unusual.

To me all depends on the house and how dirty the frames and windows are!

I think a lot of this depends on whether WFP or trad is being used.  With trad I wasn't too bothered about charging more for a first clean unless they were really bad because I still only went over the job once - albeit more thoroughly.  With WFP, it's better to go around the job twice whatever the condition because:-
1) The top frames need to be cleaned thoroughly.  Even if the glass looks clean, the odds are that there is a build up of dirt above the frames.
2) Even though the glass may be fairly clean, the odds are that there is invisible detergent film on it so some thorough brushing and rinsing is needed.

Even charging 50% more on first cleans, I reckon that I still lose out a bit on them because I am thorough.  However, the market is unlikely to carry a double charge on first cleans - though I do admit that I've never tried it.

Good Point there Shiner, i never thought about it like that but I suppose your right it does depend whether you work trad or WFP!

It depends on how dirty they are for me , if they are then I charge 25% more

if they arent really all that dirty i charge normal price.
If they are quite dirsty i charge + 50%.
If they are stinking i charge double.

If they have stickers all over them i charge a lot more!!!
