Help with stains on glass
« on: October 22, 2006, 07:39:00 pm »
Hi all.
Joined yer forum and got lost of questions to ask over the next few weeks.

This weeks question is ...

Ive just done a builders clean and cant get rid of a stain which I can only describe looks like a run from the top of the window. The runs seem to come from the top of the frame and is baked on, its kinda looks similar to the water marks you get from hanging baskets.
Ive used my scraper and also white spirit but nothing seems to shift it. Immediatly after cleaning the window, the stains disappear and look great but they return when dry.

Any comments would be appreciated

Hi Bob, try some mdr (mineral deposit remover) that should do the job for you, just have a browse on the net there are lots of cleaning supply companies that sell it. ;)

Ronaldo , i have a couple of customers that have marks on windows , i have heard its brick acid , it seems to be on windows that have recently had building done in the vacinity , its like long runs or spotting on a first clean with wfp .

Will this 550 stuff move it  ?

Everything ive tried it on Rich it has removed, i only brought it because one job i did had the old concrete guttering, i dont no if you,ve ever seen it but there is alot of houses up this way with it.

Anyway the water had been leaking of them onto the glass and i tried all sorts of stuff to get it off and failed :-[, i then spotted this stuff ages ago and because its expensive i talked a pal into going half whacks on it with me incase it was crap and i,m now on my second tub as it is the dogs b######s it takes off the stains you get on leaded windows without any effort aswell matey.

Rich

It is not brick acid, probably lime deposits running down from the brickwork or render above the window

We have used one of the Cillet Bang cleaners before, and it worked wonders!
