Sounds a bit fishy to me.

But seriously - how whippy is that thing without a brush on the end and a tube running up it?
It's a game of three halves!

Some makes are stronger than others, dont use the top2/3 sections.
Malc, you can only use outside the pole supply.

Just posted a topic like this last night. 10m carbon fishing pole.
Today's rain let me get an ali aerial from B&Q (a la Jeff Brimble) and cut it in half.
Attached a light jetted brush to the angled ali with Araldite and glued it to the pole section after disgarding the thin whippy bits.
What do I do now? Surely just push fits won't hold up?

first 3 sections cant use   much too thin
fitted enough pieces to make approx 25ft    practically no bend
at all    my gardiner 16/18ft bends like hell heavy too
fishpole light as a feather
assembly takes 40 seconds

Chris you could also have jammed into the brush a thin dowel section and then taped up the dowel both ends to also push fit into the alu tube, this allows the brush to swivel on the joint. Why ? do it and find out with the other piece of alu using another choice of brush. It will swivel and "reaches the parts that other brushes cannot."  :)

its possible to run water hose up the inside
drill hole near the top to connect to brush
or else up through the gooseneck
the less drilling done the better
you fold the thing like an accordian
put a quick strap round it.......

Dunno really, when I first started the rating was about 14 but now you get them with 20+. Its a measurement of the ammount of give in the pole before it snaps. Most are designed to take a "hit" when a fish strikes of about 18lb. Maybe we dont actually need the same flex as a fishing pole ? But I would not reccomend a brush weight of more than 6-8 onces with some of the lighter ones out there. because with the leverage of say 30ft the 8 oz becomes 4lb.

An 18 elastic is a strong grade of elastic used to hook and land carp. These are poles for fishing lads, not window cleaning, and they will not last very long. All the joining and breaking down of sections will see the joints chip, especially if you're trying to work fast. I would get yourselves down to your local fishing tackle shop and ask for a full set of joint aligners. These are domed shape, plastic attachments that stick in the ends of each section and stop the joints hitting each other and cracking.
But I would definately say that the life span of your new, on the cheap pole will be a short one :'(

Take the plunge and buy a purpose made pole. fit for the job. I paid £62 for an 18ft pole and £212 for a 42ft version, from Varitech in Plymouth ;D

I never use my WFP to catch fish or my rather expensive £1000+ fishing pole to clean windows. It works better for me that way ;)

Ah the advice about chipping is a help but they cost £2.50 each, dont fit all the pole sections and u can make your own from aerosol polystyrene.
