I think you will find that Chemdry are connected within the insurance industry somehow.

I was insured with Norwich Union, and instructed CD to attend my property, and clean after flood damage.  The operator told me on the day of the clean that I should be pushing for replacement, as I will get it no problem.  Therefore, he would just given them the once over, as they have to attempt to clean first.   I asked his charge, and he advised £4.75 m2 to insurance companies, and then proceeded to bodge my carpets with a puzzi 100.
Needless to say, I now have mew carpets..... ;)

you should have reported all that to the insurance company involved . its clowns  like this that cost the rest of us thousands in higher insurance premiums each year . The apathy is appalling

The operator can earn about £60 for that visit, I regularly did 6 or 7 a day like that, thats how they keep going!
I clean carpets

The majority of franchises concentrate on insurance work - dealing with fire and water damaged properties - from which they can make very good money.
They do get accidental damage claims to deal with carpets and upholstery after spillages etc. - but most of the franchises see these as a pain as they don't make the profits they do from fire and water damage. They just do them because they have to, as part of their agreement with the master franchise.

Some franchises - not many - concentrate purely on domestic work.

Many people will pay the chem-dry prices because they think they will get a better service due to the size of the organisation and the fact that they have heard of them before, brand image etc.

I didn't think their quote would be quite as high as 550 - maybe around 350.

Paul,
If it was flood damage and water from an external source, the carpets would be written off anyway from a Health & Safety point of view.

£550 for a 3 bed! thats got be the highest ive heard of, ive heard of £420 for a 3 bedrooms (around furniture) stairs and a rug which i done for £120, i wonder how they do it too Gary.

the insurance work must carry them :-\ very rare i even see them in demestic, i see the local fast tracker more than  CD and theres about 5 CD covering my area.

Maybe it's the way my brain works, but I'd be thinking I'd have got the job at  £300 and they'd think they saved £250. ;)
