No the hose reel  does not weigh a ton i use 50m microbore on a metal reel which is as light as a fether.

There is two of us, one pulls the hose other keeps an eye on the reel.

The van i have only has one sliding door.

What i do is have a length of microbore aboout 15 foot long coming out of my side port that i connect to reel, when i need to move take it off the reel, slack goes in the back door & it just clicks shut. this way i can lock my van.
