I rent out quality work for a small commission. I do my best to provide the lads renting from me however much work they want. But I don't interfere in how they do it.
A typical franchise is where you give them an initial fee of a few grand for which you get back a van and a bit of marketing. They then take a cut of whatever profits you make. Most franchises don't actually give you the work, they give you a 'territory' in which to find work and then they take a cut of that. People buy into franchises for the support of a well know established, tried and tested formula or brand.
Unless they are a household name (which I don't think they are) you're not likely to get much work through brand association though.
I provide work, not "territory".
