today i have been asked to give a quote for 2 luxury blocks of apartments 1 wall is all glass and it is 3 stories , my problem is that quite a few of the windows are patio doors with these silly metal fences around them patio doors in mid air whos idea was that , anyway how do you get to these windows as i would like this job but cant seem to figure out what to use to get to the windows .

Hi, I have just recently taking over a round and one of the jobs is 4 blocks of flats 3 storey high, the fronts are ok but the backs have loads of balconys, so I informed the secretary that I wasn't prepared to climb over balcony as previous window cleaner did, so now before I start using pole on windows I call on all the residents with balconies for access, NO ACCESS, NO WINDOW CLEAN. All in all job hasn't been to bad, took me approx 6 hrs and got £190.

you couldnt climb on the balconies if you wanted too the fence is about 2ft away from the door , silly idea really why not have a safe window whats the point of opening a door you can never go through.

Have some town houses close to me that i would like to canvass, but they have a perspex balcony that goes at least half way up the patio doors at 2 and 3 storeys,  cannot see anyway of accessing the wfp other than cleaning the top half and rinsing realy well, what do you think? I would like to have a solution before i knock on doors. Any ideas would be apreciated.

Re; Cleaning windows, patio doors, etc, through railings.

Use a 100p.s.i. punp with a high water flow rate and very small nozzles on your brush head and spray the water through the railings with a little side movement on the pole to reach all the glass like you would if you was using a pressure washer. Obviously it requires excessive amounts of water starting at the top of the panes of glass and working your way down, BUT it does the job sufficiently without requiring you to climb up a ladder. The weight of the excessive water will pull most of the dirt down the glass.

I have had the same problem accessed them with a ladder rojack stopper at the bottom tied when I reached the top hand cleaned with gg4 and a long blade set to one side then rinsed well withwfp cleaned this way for first clean then wfp  every time rinsing well through the railings

only go up to clean by hand on the odd occation if they look really bad but clean monthly and not much trouble  give two quotes explain h & s issues and price high for han cleaning every time  most will except lower price and ecept that these windows may not be as spotless as the others

bad to clean but look good and let in lots of light and air = sell flats bugger the window cleaner

I do these jobs every week but the ones i do are empty so i can get in and clean them.

I did try cleaning them with my wfp but could only get the top half and these are the same as you mentioned the balconies come out about 2 ft.

Myself i would not take these on when people move in as the only way i can really see you doing it if you get get inside and clean them.
