Do you think a pink, lime green or black leaflet would work, if not what colour.

hi i had been delivering leaflets recently and have to say the response was not good.i have done them my self so in went straight into the letter box with no other leaflet.i advertised in 3 different areas around 1000 pieces and have to say i had zero response within 2 weeks after delivering them.very dissapointed and decided to go for advert in local well established magazine.and is also a lot cheaper .i use to pay £400 for 14k leaflets printed and delivered and with the response i had i just managed to cover just the cost of them in the first month and managed to get a few regulars.

The easiest way to do this is put your own ideas up and allow us to knock them.We need to know a bit about where your leaflets will be delivered and your target market.

good leaflet jouk.

RWC,  i think this would be a good template for you.

Pic of you working, before and after pics of con roofs are good( pictures are worth a thousand words)

I would add something like seeing is beliving will clean up  tp a 3 pane window for free.

It's suprising how many people don't know about wfp.

I find 2 out of 100 respond to l/lets.

Ian lancaster had a post on c/pros.
basically put your leaflets out then door knock a few days later.

I've heard sundays are good not too early.

I've also thought about fridge magnets from vista print (haven't looked into how much)

Did also think about earlier this year putting a calendar on back of a leaflet to get custy to hang onto proved to difficult,  come out crap on pc so didn't bother.

also thought about leaving a blank space on l/let to clean your front windows on a monthtly basis would cost £**

But i didn't know how pratical this would be keeping notes of how much each house would cost.

i've spent money on fancy flyers, ads in local papers, small ads in local glossy's and trouble is with ads is you always end up with calls from areas too far away or properties that are not worth it; like flats etc.

I think l/let then door knock is def the way to go, keep strict records of all not in's and go back til your given a yes or no.

And as said by other's if no ask if they'd like a l/let just in case their w/c packs it in.

good luck
lee ;)
(i'm a cowdy custard when it comes to door knocking but i do intend to later this year!)

As you don't seem to have much direction, just do your best, and this will be better than nothing. You haven't taken much notice of the replies, which i thought were pretty good.

A responce of 2-4 out of a hundred is excellent. You will not achieve this because of the credit crunch. I know someone who moved in recently and over two weeks had six approaches.

slumpbuster.

I know there is a credit crunch, and i must admit i was very nervous at the begning of this year.

It's not essential people have there windows cleaned, but i started to think it's not a lot of money, say £10 a month an average job, it's not going to vastly improve a custy's well being imo.
Obviously if they get sent to the re dun dance, then they will fire you :(

But on a positive note if a custy has still got their job, many are enjoying cheap mortgages, so they do have a bit of spare cash knocking about.

I have custy's who have lost their jobs and i have suggested they cancel til things improve, and they have actually said things aren't that terrible,
probably due to the fact they have redundancy insurance,
and a bit of keeping up with the jones's ;)

our eggs aren't in one basket fortunately :)

If a custy says to me "oh, i bet you must be getting a lot of not today's now"

I just say no i'm not "what can you get for £x  a week, now a days i clean windows, frames, doors, sills" ;D
(i'm always a bit late getting around and i think this helps)
i know of a lot of self employed tradesmen sitting around waiting for phone to ring ::)

I don't worry about losing work anymore as i pick up more.

If i lost alot i would door knock.

I think we are about as recession proof as you can get. imo
cheers lee.

you are right of course, but growth is harder and competition fiercer. I believe the response to leaflets is down, and this is what some of the others have said.

oh, yeh i have had a few want to go every other time and i've just told them no in the very polite way possible.

basically tell them i have waiting list
can't run two rounds all have to be on one schedule 5 weeks.

I can't clean twice as much dirt off for same money.

I have offered every other to a small handful of genuine custy's but a think the majority are trying it on.

I remember when i first started out i was too eager to please and custy's pick up on that.

Like all on here, do a good job for fair price.

Best advice i've been given when pricing at door, if custy starts haggling just say sorry can't do for your price here's my card, if u intrested give us a ring.

U turn walk away, most times after two steps they call us back ;) (not every time)

Oh yeh i tell them potential custy i call every 5 weeks, don't collect, text for gates etc.

If they start laying down law i hold up my hands as if they've pointed a gun at me and say were not going to get on!
U-turn, they call me back or not
up to them ;)

thanks all lee.

just seen your post after my last one slumpbuster.

Sure your right as i have not done l/lets for a while and i have had a lot of custy's show me my home l/lets.

You may already know is franchise.

But would imagine they would be expensive. (as of there costs)

I spoke to oven clean guy (franchisee)

First did my oven 5 yrs ago
when he started he was full of beans, what he was going to do.

see him last year, broken man did feel very sorry for him, been doing 7 years and hadn't had a holiday in all that time.

Working for the bank :o

Paying ovenclean £150 a week, plus van expenses :o

I remember a very pain in the bum custy a while back showed me a w/c leaflet said "i always get these through my door"

He was rude to me the following clean.

and i blew him out 5 month'ish later his wife phoned back saying please come back and do the windows.

Imagine my suprise as i thought they were auditioning a queue of w/c's on their doorstep ;)

Perhaps it's just as well people are too lazy to respond to leaflets :D

I think there are more w/c's this time of year plus if your made redundant it is a cheap and quick thing to get into,

but our job isn't easy and once someone get's offered something more suitable they'l be off.

cheers lee.
