George help
« on: January 22, 2026, 05:40:57 pm »
Hi thanks for readin,I’ve been cleaning windows for18 years and have been using George all that time.
I have a lat top which George is on,I only use my laptop for George and a bit of browsing but don’t download anything.
My previous laptop had which I got rid of had a internal disc drive ( I think that’s what it was called ) on the lap top after a few years George started to run slow,I emailed Paul and he’d advised it was due to when you open George the  laptop has to read every bit of data before it opens so I replaced that with a new laptop that has ssd fitted initially it was opening George after a few second now five years later it is now also taking quite a bit longer as more data has been added over the last few years.
I really I would like to remove some of the data from George as this then would allow the George to open quicker.
Paul advised a few years ago that old data cannot be removed.
Just wondering if anyone else has the same problem and I have the been able to sort it
Thanks for reading

Haven’t used George for years but I think I had similar at one time. Isn’t there an option within the George settings to not load all the finances or something? I’m sure it was something like that.

Sadly there are only three options.

1.  Get a faster laptop again.

2.  Print of all your live customers, then restore George from your first original back up when you first set it up.  Your database would be fairly clear of any data.  Then go through a bit of pain entering all live customers again.

3, Jump ship.

Also have you tried running the data fix program?

There is another way as you can delete customer records and all it's associated data.  But only one at a time and would be probably slower than option 2.
