Update on my experience of using the Slick Connect fittings for 8 months.
I absolutely love them and I’m very impressed how long they have lasted! But you must use O-Ring lubricant.
After about 2 months I found it was getting harder and harder to connect them, and thought “uh oh these didn’t last long”. I replaced the “O” rings and all was well for a few weeks, then the same thing happened.
So I bought some “O” ring lubricant from Amazon (
https://amzn.eu/d/h6a6LPf) £4.29 for 2 tubes, so not expensive.
I applied a bit to each O ring. PROBLEM SOLVED!
I did this back in August and have not had to do it again. They are all working perfectly.
As I was reeling in a few weeks ago, some numpty car driver didn’t want to wait the 10 seconds it would have taken for me to finish and just drove over my hose (no problem, it happens!)
But I watched in horror as the car wheel drove directly over the female slick connector, certain that would crush it.
It didn’t. And I was able to carry on working with no problems.
I’ve only just replaced the two female ones I have on each reel as the outer casings were a bit scuffed.
All in all, I’m very impressed. A great product that has been well thought-out and works exactly as it should!
