Don't you have to link sumup to your mobile , which seems a load of faffing about

Sumup works for me - although I use it rarely.

You can get the handset with an integral SIM card but it cost quite a lot more than the one that links to your phone.
It was very easy to link them and takes a few minutes.

Square and izettle are both easy to use. You can just operate from your phone but costs 2.5%.
If you get their mobile reader which links via sn app the charge is only £19 one off charge plus 1.5%? Or 1.75%?

I use it quite a lot only once couldn't due to signal. Payment into your account within a couple of days.
