Gardiners pu hose any good ?
« on: June 23, 2017, 09:57:29 pm »
Gardiners pu hose any good as an alternative  to  exceeds blue hose  ? How does it compare, is it similar ? .....asking because I run  a hoseless system  along  with a univalve. Although the hose in the pole is exceeds stuff the pole hose  on the end of my reel is Gardiners  all season and just too soft and stretchy in the warmer weather to work effectively . yeah I know I could by from exceed but I'd sooner get from G with a few other bits on one order over £50  and free postage  ;)

been a while since i used gardiners PU hose - not as good IMO as exceed

as you are using exceed why not keep to the same stuff throughout your system

Because of what I've just said above  ;D
I'll pay postage on two small separate orders from two companies otherwise.
I hadn't used G's pu hose hence why I asked  but thanks for the input if it needs to be two orders then it needs to be !

If you are talking about the Gardiner's green PU hose then it has my thumbs up. It's a little softer and has slightly more stretch than the blue Exceed hose but equally as tough.  I also find it lays flat easier than the Exceed hose.  I prefer it but it is a matter of what you prefer. I use it with a 22' pole and have no problem operating a Univalve at full reach using a 100psi pump.

A conflicting answer........... I can see this is going to be one of those "opinions are like @rseholes "  things .........everybody has one

Must admit didn't like exceeds blue for its inability to lay flat and suffered from memory and would want to coil and tangle but unaffected seemingly by temperature, may give G's pu a go ........ Anyone else ?

If you really want to be padantic, then can't you afford £7.95 for a better hose ?

Spend the money on what Gardiners do best - poles or a spare brush head - that will get you free postage then get hose from exceed

Don't take offence at the above, it's just how your post came across, as you say everyone has an opinion so, get the Gardiners and see how it works out

A little extra info.

I use a PF trolley without a reel so my experience is based on how easy it is to hand coil..
All other PU hoses I've tried I have had to either boil or place in hot water to get it to a point where it'll lay flat and I can work with it. The green Gardiner one I didn't have too. I just took it out of it's packaging, layed it out straight and untwisted it till it layed flat, then recoiled it to a coil size I like to work with.  After that it was useable.
I can't comment on how it works on a reel.

Thanks M & C and smudger,  both of your advice / experience is useful. I'm actually going to get both, exceeds 10 m  for the reel and  a length of gadiners pu to hand coil for my bacpack   ;)

It'll be interesting to hear your thoughts once you've used them both side by side for a while. I still use a short length of Ex-Ceed's blue hose with a handheld sprayer (like mini backpack only handheld 12l capacity) I use for small jobs when I don't want to get the trolley out.

I have 100m of the gardiner green coming in the morning , plan is to run 50m microbore on van mount , im going to run this to the property then have 50m of the green on a small reel to work around the house .
I have been doing a trial on this with a few offcuts of all season stuck together , its working well as its so much easier to pull around , the only downside is the joints are snagging now and then , i think i may well stick 100 of the green on van mount first and try that before i go cutting it in half , my only concern is how flat its going to lie .
I met with Stuart SAJ yesterday to see his green and i have to say it looks promising , he has had it for a year he thinks , and the guy is an animal , so it should last , i only hope Alex G hasnt had the compound changed in the last 12 months .
I will let you all know how it performs !
