So backgates...(locked)
Use to text customers to unlock, they sometimes did, sometimes just 'forget'

What do you guys do?.
I have step ladders, to climb over.
Most customers not bothered, a few are abit funny about it. Dont alwasys like trxting to much time and plans/route can change at times like we all know.

Do I just drop the few funny ones?.

Whats everybodies opinions on gates? You jump the locked ones to get the job done?

I don't get a lot of locked gates on my round but on the odd occasion where it does happen
I use something similar to the above.
It goes over the gate/fence without touching it and the wide footing keeps it stable, you may want to charge more for the hassle.

I text night before to give heads up so atleast they know im coming and to open gates. So ive done my part!  If they dont open the gate i charge 75% of full price.

I had one the other week. She's end terraced and I clean the front of her 2 next door neighbours, txt her the night before - 'yeah will do ' .
In the morning she txt saying she forgot sorry , I said it's ok il do them tomorrow.
Txt her again that night - yeah I will do ... if I remember lol '
The next day it's locked ,
I txt her saying it's the 2nd time iv drove to her house and it's still locked. Il change to front only from now on as you keep forgetting to unlock your gate ,- yeah no probs ' 🙄
She lives on my street so It's only 30 seconds up the road.

I have a locked gate policy.

If access isn't available, it's full price still.

They soon remember after that.

I take the whole locking plate of only takes few seconds
I carry cordless bosh screwdriver

Most are only one screw out one loosened

I think that's fair as most of my custies are really good, so if they do forget then it's a genuine mistake.
And i've been genuine by only charging for what i've cleaned. The custies always apologise and usually doesn't happen again.
Having said that, if they do it twice, they're dumped!

I don't jump gates, fences and/or go clambering over a garage roof to get to the back... Sod that for a game of soldiers.
Anyway I like to book work in when someone will be home as I mostly do one-off exterior property cleaning not just glass.
That way I get fed and watered, don.t need to pee in a trad boad or bucket in the back of the van and most importantly get paid in full on the day when I'm finished..

Alternatively i have a couple of customers whos gates are locked but i dont bother texting them night before. Im only 22yrs into my adult life 😉😂 and so i lift a fence panel out or the other one i lift high enough and stick a green box in whilst i duck under and clean windows. They know i do this so all is fine.

I have weeded out the messers.

I would just charge for what I could clean if gate was locked.

Most of my customers have been with me 5+ years.

Feels abit harsh for them forgetting.

theres hardly any locked gates on my round(probably 20-30 out of 350 customers).most i text the night before and they very rarely forget to leave it open,or i get over by splitting my ladder.if there is no way of getting over then front only (75% of regular price usually).
