have to say i agree.

to have one vehicle as your work/family car doesn't seem to make much sense to me.

For our family car I bought a 2010 Mazda 6 Sport 2.5 Petrol on a 60 plate, with the top of the line everything, even has the full leather seats which was an option. Got it for a bargain too, I purchased it as an ex fleet car from GKL leasing. One former owner, full main dealer history, it was exactly 3 years old when i bought it back in 2013 with 89k miles on it,  got it for £5995.  Now has 130k miles on it and we have kept up with main dealer servicing and repairs at guildford mazda

Its a great car, quick for what it is 0-100kmh in 7.9 seconds (0-60 in around 7.5) 170 bhp, handles like its on rails as its perfect 50 50 weight distribution so it ticks all the 'fun' boxes. Its not rip your face off fast, but i can confirm it will nudge 142 mph which is surprising and a spirited drive around country lanes once left a boy racered up toyota celica and a drag race against a bmw 330d mine had the edge on the top end.
