water setup outside
« on: April 04, 2017, 01:53:32 pm »
My parents are thinking of moving.

My water setup is in there garage.

If they move I'll have to sort something where I live.

Have a broom cupboard type effort outside has tumble dryer in then shelf above with toot etc.

If I clear out and move tumble drier up then I will have room for a 250 litre holding tank.

I also have small space outside kitchen window I'm guessing can fit another tank 250 litres to 300 litres.

Trouble is how do I protect outside tank from freezing?

Anyone else have an outside tank?

I live in a small back to back house so no garden, I'll try and post some pictures if I can work out how later.

Not moving any time soon unfortunately unless a lottery win😡

Can you not fit a 1000 litre  IBC tank outside under your kitchen window if/when required?
If it is just a question of looking ugly you could enclose it in the likes of decking. If space/footprint  is an issue could you could get hold of a slim line upright 1000 litre tank instead. Again this could be enclosed including ro/di, pump etc all in a box?

The water won't freeze I've had mine outside forever it's the filters you need to worry about,I always make sure I have filtered a 1000ltrs before really cold weather. I then take filters indoors until the weather warms up a bit or reconnect in the morning to fill and remove them again and overnight till the next day, plastic filters will look like they've had a samurai sword across em the next day if left in minus temps overnight although a couple winters I've got away with it. In winter it won't fill as quick as it would indoors you need to have that in mind.
