You clean when you want to - just because others won't is no reason for you to change.

Reminds me of when I was in sales and the particular products we were selling didn't usually sell too well in the run up to and around Xmas as buyers often went on holiday and meetings of decision makers got delayed until the new year. All us old hands "knew" that December sales tended to wind down around about the 20th December making it a "short month".

A new kid joined the team in the October and he was out push push pushing and got a couple of massive orders a day or two before Xmas eve. He had the best sales month of all of us and when the Sales Director handed out the prizes (on top of all the commission he would have earned) he asked him to explain how and why he had done so well.

The successful lad said "I suppose it's because I didn't know December was supposed to be a bad month."

Doing the outsides now of a big job,
Current weather conditions are hail stoning and lashing down, half 6 at night and am slogging it out.

Who says ya can't work in the rain ffs guys we live in the uk, window cleaners would be out of work for weeks if that was the case 

Those of us who have commercial work have no choice but to crack on regardless of the weather
I would post a pic but the nasty mob will turn gangster on me

Yeah but there's a huge difference isn't there between commercial work and residential ?
A big job you say, probably needing to be done out of hours ? doubt it comes out of any single persons monthly income - more a case of out of an allocated budget. Consider then Mr and Mrs Smith with their 3 bed semi on a fixed income that you clean once a month for them, they are going to expect value for money and a good service. Whats going to secure customer loyalty to  you and not given reason to try out your competition ?
One possible answer could be not turning up in a howling gale with the rain lashing down. Any sensible person would question this and to be honest I wouldn't be happy paying my hard earned either.

I cannot think of a single time in nearly 15 years where I have been out of work for weeks because of bad weather. Remember we are talking here about storms, high winds and lashing rain and hail not general run of the mill weather . Jesus........

So ur point is the customer won't want to pay for the service in the rain...... Coz ur just chatting bubbles there. All week it's been shocking weather so there's 1 week. Someone posted yesterday they had snow so what's the plan there, take a hair dryer out with u.

The reason I was working on this job at that time in them conditions has nothing to do with me being afraid of them checking the competition out 

It's a bloody event clean, but I can't tell u that coz u will prob no better than I will.

i just still find it amazing that even in crappy weather i can still earn a good wage day to day thanks to WFP.

dont forget ive spent 23 years window cleaning and most of that i just about scraped a living together.i nearly went out of business a few times,debts etc.

them days are over and sometimes i still pinch myself how  ive managed to build a much better business for myself.

It's hard sometimes but u have to go through the muck and come out the other side,

Alright calm down.
I'm not chatting bubbles but you appear to be spitting them for some reason.
We are not talking about rain here, we are talking about storms and I did mention residential - my customers would not like that and I wouldn't  blame them for feeling that way. Everybody is going to be different and know their customers and what is and what isn't acceptable to them. I'm not assuming anything at all and not implying I know better than you. You are talking about a commercial job for an event - that's quite a difference to run of the mill work for most and I did point that out , why are you struggling to grasp that ?

I work in rain if I want/need/have to
I don't work in storms.
If I had large commercial work that had to be done regardless of the weather condition or I was obligated to then obviously I would work in a storm.

Hi Ross,
no , not yesterday.
But was out 6.30 am on shops this morning. When sun came up it was blue skies, I've come home and had breakfast, now its grey drizzle  . but I can work with that - not like yesterday ! How about you ?

I was out at about 9am Friday to do shops and hopefully finish early enough to do the houses I missed on Thurs having caught up with Thurs commercial work Thurs evening finishing at around 11.30pm. Then Friday late morning it pee'd down and work stopped for a few hours so I finished all the shops and decided to catch up on Saturday. Saturday ended up no go so now I've got behind yet again and Monday looks like it might be a right off as well.

It's lower than many sometimes use to clean, any how I just turn up the flow and crack on
, all customers trained I work in all weather

I quite like working in the rain, people don't want to stand and talk so it s great

Only time I stop Is lighting storms seems daft waving along carbon pole around waiting to catch a spark , even my daughter got used to it now although she's much  quicker in the rain, as she wants to get back in the van
