I have major building work going on, on my house, and with all the mud and c**p outside, you cant help but bring it in the house, the grandchildren are the biggest culprits, and we have tryed to stop them, but you know kids they won't listen! we have tryed to get them to take there shoes off before coming in, and they do, but if they go to play outside, you can't be watching them every five minutes.

Every other day the wife gets out our cheap VAX rapide, and cleans the carpet, my question is, cleaning the carpet every other day, is this causing any damage to the carpets?
any advice from the experts would be most welcome,
and for that I thank you in advance.

if using carpet shampoo your gona end up leaving loads of sticky residue in the carpet wich you wont see but will make the carpets attract dirt, and get dirty quicker.

If you are using the vax so often, any dirt on the carpet shouldnt be to set in or hard to remove, so i would suggest cleaning using the vax with plain old water, that way you wont have any shampoo to leave a residue behind and after a few times you will rinse out the worst of what you have allready put in.

any marks that wont come out you can use a bit of whatever your using at the minute on a terry towell and then rinse with the water.

that should keep you on top of it untill the work is finished, then it may be worth getting it done properly im sure you will find someone on here who will do it for you.

How often do you Dry Vacum before you use the vaX

It isadvisable to Dry Vacbefore any HWE cleaning is carried out.




Dry Vacuming removes a high % of the dirt.

You are wetting the carpet far to often and it never has long enough to fully dry out. This can lead to mould and mildew on the carpet backing and could end up smelling really bad. A good vacuum cleaner such as a Sebo will keep the carpets resonably clean and a wet wash weekly is the maximum you should be doing.

I cleaned a lounge this week , were the builders had been repairing the ceiling,
what a mess!!!!
 Vacumed with tub vac first, then sebo. total time to vac, an hour and a half but well worth the time came up a treat, £20 tip on top
