450GPD RO Modification for DI?
« on: August 14, 2016, 10:24:01 pm »
I have a 450GPD RO system setup hooked up to my IBC Tank in the garage from Pure Freedom, i have 2 6.5L Di Vessels which i used to use before i had the RO, can somebody explain to me how i can set it up so that the water goes through the 450GPD RO then goes into a 6.5L vessel, as in, how do i change the fittings to make this work?  Obviously the RO and DI have very small narrow hoses, so how do you modify it to go into 1/2" hose to connect to a 6.5L DI with female connectors.   The resin in the 10" DI that comes with the 450GPD i just feel wont last long enough, before i have to keep babysitting it for changing the resin like once every 1000L of pure produced or so.  FYI, my ppm before RO is 165 and after RO is around 8, bear in mind it is brand new.  I still want to polish off with DI down to 000-003 ideally, which is why im wanting to connect to a 6.5L vessel so that it lasts much longer.

Thanks

Cheers

What sizes are the ports in the di vessel head?

What size hose have you got on the r/o?

Gardiners have a kit that will help you with an idea of what you want.

http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/pure-water-systems/water-treatment/de-ionisation/fitting-kit-for-di-pressure-vessel-john-guest-3-8-tube.html

If your di fitting are 1" (as is Gardiner' di vessel) or 3/4" then this will work. (the 1" to 3/4" reducing bush won't be used if your ports are 3/4")

If your r/o tube is 1/4" (as mine was) then you could ask Gardiners to replace the connectors with 1/4" as per one of these.
If you don't know what size tube your r/o uses, then order the kit + the additional 1/4" fitting and the thread tape listed below.

You will also need a roll of this;
