if the floors pretty good and the scuff marks are not to deep you can use a black pad on rotery machine to remove the surface of the polish and hopfully the black marks, then mop the floor several times with plain water, apply polish with a kentucky mop (its worth washing it in a machine first to remove the usuall fluff)(the mop head that is) apply three thin coats depending on the price you can buff inbetwwen coats to get a really deep shine, finally buff with a tan or white pad using a high speed or ultra high speed rotary machine.
to maintain the floor it should be mopped with a maintainer liquid and buffed once dry to return to the original shine.
hope this helps i have used this method for the past 12 yrs and acheive excellent results
