How much time do chemicals save?
« on: June 23, 2016, 07:40:06 am »
Hi all ,

Does using chemicals make the job quicker on sfg / conny roof jobs? Or would it be quicker to get straight into scrubbing from custys tap or your water tank ?
Iv used chemicals before on conny roofs , but sometimes I think instead of spending time pre spraying with chems , would it not be quicker to just get up there and start scrubbing with just water?

just depends.if the jobs really bad with lots of algae ill pre soak with virosol.other times ill just use hot pure water.i cleaned a really filthy conny roof a few weeks back and chemicals defo helped.

lots of times esp if its f/s/g cleaning ill just use hot water
price higher/work harder!

Chemicals take off in lots of cases what water won't touch.

Its hard to say Shrek as no two jobs where you would use a chemical are ever the same, Iv cleaned conservatories and
fascia's with and without and cant honestly say if the chemical made a difference.
You definitely couldn't do without them for removing anything contaminated with oil and grease.

For last 14 yrs trad ive cleaned conny roof with an unger pole and brush (like what use for  cleaning caravans) and a hosepipe to custys tap.
This wk is first time used hypo on a week mix with squirty. Did it make it any quicker? Not sure as time (however short or long) leaving chems on to work, could have been scrub time.
Any difference in results?  For obvious reasons the chem mix cleaned up better.
Would i use chems again?  Im off to price a job today n taking chems with me

Put it this way would you wash yer old encrusted skid marked pants in just cold water or maybe use washing powder (chem) and hot/warm water to do a better job?  ;D

Regards to cleaning exterior of properties that all depends what set up/methods you use if it saves you any time or not and more importantly effort to get the desired results.

Without chem we wouldn't got it clean

Awesome pic , iv got virosol but my pressure sprayer keeps breaking ( the trigger) is that because I'm using a cheap one? do I need to buy a pressure sprayer suitable for chems instead of one that's used to spray my hair in the morning  ???

Worse thing about that job was ( is ) getting paid.

Still owed over 40% of the money, and job was finished end of February or there abouts

Matt, that's the one I was thinking of as thought the first pic was part of the same job.
I'm betting a month later it was plastered in pigeon poop again but at least you got paid on time.
