chemical leaving water marks
« on: May 14, 2006, 01:16:06 pm »
I cleaned a naibours lounge and kitchen carpet the usual way around feb time, presprayed with soil break and extracted with weak dilute Hydra dri, carpet was typical nylon rented property carpet but came up fine, this custy has a V messy Girl and Hubby and the carpets are trashed again but as shes just about to give birth wants them clean, fair enough.

But she's asked for me not to use chemicals on this clean as when something is spilt it leaves a ring on the carpet for a while, which she believes is my fault as it never used to happen before I cleaned, has any one else encountered this   ??? ??? ???

Thanks
James

Sounds like the drink that is spilt is the problem or maybe a resoiling issue with the sugars etc in the drink.  These cheap carpets in rented properties wear out very quickly and so over time anything thats dropped will show up more as theres no pile left for it to disappear into.

Try using an acid rinse to help remove any residues.

Thanks Mark

I cleaned the carpets again yesterday but with nothing but hot water, limited results but was still impressed with the results for just water, but yep her daughter has just drawn all over it with crayon and spilt a glass of juice on it and she's right it does leave a ring any ideas  ??? ??? ???

What is she mopping up the spill with, chances are she slopping some sort of detergent on it right away, like they do. It could be the residue of what she is using thats to blame.

The carpets had everything thrown at it she cleaned her 100% wool rug with washing up liquid, but do you think any residue could be left in the carpet  after two cleans and one with nothing but water, but the plot is slowly coming together, her hubby works with an ex carpet cleaner who cleaned her carpets a couple of years ago which i beleive a lot of unjust info is coming from, if he knows so much why aint he cleaning carpets now  :P :P :P :P :P :P

Washing up liquid is a very highly concentrated solution. You only need one little squirt in a sink full of water to give you a cleaning solution. My bet is she uses this neat to remove spillages. If so no amount of cleaning will remove it totally, well maybe 6-7 cleans may have some impact. Also could be she never noticed the rings before because it was so dirty.
