gas water heaters

who on here has had there gas water heaters checked by someone who is gas safe registered to make sure they are safe to use?

serviced annually?

or is it still buy some cheap Chinese crap off eBay chuck it in the back of the van without a flue but it will be ok because a door will be left open?
