Resin roadtest ?
« on: October 15, 2015, 08:36:51 am »
Whilst working away yesterday I had a thought of how to test all the brands of resins out there.

This may settle the old "which resin lasts the longest"

Using an inline water meter to measure how much has passed thru a small 5 litre dumpy di vessel with an inline di vessel on the outlet side of the vessel I could measure several brands back to back ... all recorded for youtube.

The test would end the second the tds hits 001.

The brands I can think of are

Tulson 115 (the one I use)
Ionics
Puralite

Any more please add in a comment.

If run say 3 times a year then this would even out the old "must have been a bad batch"

Comments and thoughts please.

 :)

List of contenders so far.

There's a brand called Dowex.
I once bought some in a plainer bag and told it was called "Mitsubishi".  Never was sure if it was a wind-up.

All I can say you must have a lot of times on your hands to even bother doing something like that.

Why not ask a load of manufactures/suppliers to donate some resin samples for the test or you will be a few quid out of pocket as there are loads of different branded di resin out there including nuclear grade too.

Its a sign of a true professional when you do things for the betterment of the industry. More of us should think like this. Well done mate. We need to up the industry as a whole. So often I see some poor bugger trying to uplift the industry only to be laught at and belittled by others on this forum. Its a shame that we cannot see the forest for the trees at times. Thanks and well done again.

All the resin we use will come from a factory in China or a similar country, it will just be bagged into different
bags belonging to different suppliers but it will be the same resin.
As with any factory every now and again they will produce something that just isn't up to the usual quality and that will go to what ever company is having their order filled at that time, or use an old factory favourite throw a couple of dodgy bags into each order.
The thing is just because one supplier gets a slightly dodgy batch this time doesn't mean it will be the same the next and
the same goes for a supplier that gets a good batch.
That's why some will say a certain brand of resin is the best they have ever used and others will say its crap.
