DI Resin + Trolley System
« on: July 08, 2015, 05:05:42 pm »
Okay so firstly i am having a problem with my DI Resin.  I Ordered 2 5L bags of Tulsion resin 4 months ago.  The first bag lasted 3 months, and then went downhill pretty quickly and i had to change it quick for my 2nd bag.  That bag was reading at 3ppm instead of 0, even though it had been in storage and sealed.  Does resin go off if not used???  That was 3/4 weeks ago, and today i checked the resin and it started at 5ppm and i filled like 4 barrells and it's now up to 12ppm.  Have a busy week next week so im going to order some more and change it to be on the safe side, but i cant understand why it has gone off so quickly?

Does this just happen from time to time, or if you keep it in storage in your garage?  Also, i recently checked the ppm from the tap i use to filter the water.  It's reading at 150ppm which is way more than i thought, so i guess this will use the resin alot quicker?  When i used to filter my water back at home last year the tap water was running at 30ppm!!

I still want to use DI Resin for now, so should i stick with using this tap which is reading at 150ppm before i filter?

Okay, now onto Pure Freedom Trolley System.  Today i had a problem i haven't had for about 4 or 5 months.  The trolley would pump the water out fine at a good pace i use 20psi and it's usually fine.  After about anything from 10-30 minutes, or when the barrell gets about half full, several times today it felt like it wasn't pumping any water at all.  It wouldn't project onto the glass when i was rinsing, it was sort of just drizzling out?  The clear hose looked like it had bubbles so could this have been an airlock, yet it was still working fine but just wasn't pumping anything remotely like it should.  Or do you think this could be a fault with the battery/pump??  I spoke to Pure Freedom and they told me to check the connectors incase they were letting air in if they werent tight.  I tried that and it seemed fine, it was more the problem that it works for like 30 minutes, then all of a sudden the water just doesnt pump properly and it was near impossible to rinse glass and do a good job it was taking ages.....

Any suggestions?

Iv had this problem b4, it was an airlock, kept unplugging/ plugging the hose and switching it on and off until it worked again

Could be a split in the hose that dangles into the barrel?  If it was half-way down this would be the effect.

This is definitely evidence your pump is sucking air in somewhere. I think Pete's suggestion is definitely the place to start if the problem starts halfway through a barrel, though for a hose to split in the middle would be highly unusual.  Or it could be the inlet coupling to the pump not as tight as it should be.

Hi
Stuff your finger in the hose lock and run it full belt until the bubbles go.
Should do the trick.
