I cut them down, I've made a mini pole for washing the van and ground floor tight spaces and a camera pole for whilst mountainboarding and snowboarding, got a plan to make a 25 ft camera boom out of my old slx ( currently my spare ) once I've made a gimbal for it. Come in handy as telescopic poles for wilderness camps in my kayak with a tarp too.

Gardiners sell a bit for attaching a cameras to their poles.
