cleaning inside connie roofs
« on: May 26, 2015, 09:40:29 pm »
Hi  everyone,
remembered someone on here using a copycat version of the vikan easy shine kit for  the inside glass connie roofs.

wondered what it was and where from?
as believe is was cheaper!

also any good for this type of work?

I realise inside roof upvc will stil be ladder and elbow grease just thought pole gadget might speed up glass cleaning.

There's several on the market Lee unger do one and they have a really plush pad great for polycarbonate panels - mop first then run over with pad

I found a sort of indoor Karcher gadget that you can put on a pole, I thought this would makes things a touch easier.

i swerve them all.i cant be bothered with them.ive lost one or two customers over the years because i refused to clean their inside windows/conservatory roofs etc.

the beauty of having a well established round is you can pick and choose what work you take on.

i cleaned one or two years ago and used a small optiloc trad pole with mop/squeegee/scrim on the end and dust sheet on the floor(to catch the drips).they were a pain and i hated cleaning them.so i dont  clean them any more.
price higher/work harder!

i very rarely get asked lal but when i do i say im already stacked out with work and cant fit them in(which is usually true!)or i tell them the tale of another window cleaner who i used to work for many moons ago who got accused of stealing money when cleaning insides.(also true)

the only exception is i do clean the insides of a few large posh houses(pre booked only)every 12 weeks but these are clean freaks and very tidy customers so the windows are easy to clean.(they dont have conservatories).

also if other customers really do want them cleaning i tell them to ask their domestic cleaner! ;D

i also refuse GUTTER CLEARING!absolutely hate doing these off ladders so i pass another window cleaners number on who does offer this service.

i stick to regular outside maintenance window cleaning and UPVC cleans, solar panels and outside conny roof add on jobs.

i find this business model works well for me.minimal hassle and keeps pre booking down to a minimum.

Hi Lee, what sort of roof are you cleaning?
The pad won't be any good for arched roofs but works great on flat panels.
I bought the unger pad holder and a few pads and just screwed it straight onto a Harris pole. Spray the panels with pure water or mop first if really dirty and then scrub with the pad.
Don't buy the polishing pads, they stick to the the glass and make cleaning very difficult, just get the microfiber cleaning pads which are the darker green type as they glide across the glass easier.

thanks chaps!

smudger will check the unger one later.

mark I`ve got the karcher window vac seen a pole attachment for this on amazon.

daz know what you mean but don`t like letting good people down; I do shy away from a lot of this type of work probably 90%.

I`ve come to the conclusion 'give a big price' usually that scares em off.

life a lot easier zipping about doing maintenance cleans ;)

It does bug me with a lot of people with things like gutter/fascia/soffit cleaning.
I now charge this as half a day or a days wages now and an extra small charge for virosol etc.

but most people won`t pay it`s the 'thought it wouldn`t take long?' comments  ::)roll

thanks lee

I use merlin gold power cleaner, fantastic stuff but hard to get hold of. Get mine from a local cleaning supplier.
I have about 5 different spray bottles, pure, pure mixed with gg4, merlin power cleaner, Clover tar and bitumen remover and winsol crystal clear for limescale.
For the upvc frames I spray them up from the ground, go to the van and grab step ladder, by the time iv got back the merlin has got to work so I hop on the ladder and wipe down with microfibers. The dirt just wipes away.
Then spray the roof panels with pure, grab the unger pad holder and scrub away.
30mins job done.
